Story of the wine: 

This wine is the culmination of the work of so many people.  Planting and maintaining  5 acres of grapes in Albuquerque’s North Valley.  More than 5000 vines that had to be planted, trained, pruned, watered, weeded, and so much more.  This is the first wine released from the vineyard that you all helped to plant.

Tasting Notes:

Vibrant, distinctive, and beautifully expressive, this Blaufränkisch from Sheehan Winery showcases the remarkable character of grapes grown in Albuquerque’s historic North Valley. Aromas of black cherry, blackberry, and wild blueberry leap from the glass, layered with notes of violet, cracked black pepper, and subtle earthy spice. The palate is lively and energetic, offering bright red and dark fruit flavors framed by vibrant acidity and refined tannins. Hints of cocoa, dried herbs, and mineral complexity add depth and intrigue. Elegant yet full of personality, this Blaufränkisch delivers a fresh, balanced expression that highlights both varietal character and the unique terroir of the Rio Grande Valley.

Appearance:

Deep ruby with vivid purple highlights and brilliant clarity, reflecting freshness, concentration, and youthful vibrancy.

Nose:

Highly aromatic, revealing black cherry, blackberry, and blueberry accented by violet, black pepper, dried herbs, and subtle earthy undertones.

Palate:

Dry and medium-bodied, with flavors of tart cherry, black raspberry, blackberry, and plum. Notes of cocoa, spice, and savory herbs add complexity while maintaining a vibrant fruit core.

Structure:

Medium-bodied with bright natural acidity and fine-grained tannins. The wine is energetic and balanced, delivering freshness, precision, and remarkable food-friendliness.
