Our story begins with our passion for New Mexico wine…

Sheehan Winery is committed to making high-quality, all natural, boutique wines in New Mexico. Our winery was founded in 2015 by Sean Sheehan, who learned the craft by serving for more than a decade as lead winemaker at some of New Mexico’s finest wineries. Our wines are made exclusively from New Mexico-grown grapes. Sheehan Winery wines reflect the unique combination of sun, high altitude, dry climate and soil of the New Mexico climate. We invite you to enjoy them!

When we think of wine, chances are we don't necessarily think of New Mexico as the land of "wine opportunities." But that's where we might be getting it all wrong. Sean of Sheehan Winery talks to us about how after 10 years his dreams to have a winery right in his own back yard are finally coming to fruition.

Vineyards & Winery

Sheehan Winery has vineyards in Corrales, Bosque Farms, and the South Valley of Albuquerque. The Corrales and Bosque Farms vineyards are well established and are the basis for our award-winning Lobo Vineyard Merlot and Chardonnay as well as our Elyce Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Chambourcin wines. Sheehan Winery also sources high quality grapes from small growers throughout the state. Our wines are made exclusively from New Mexico-grown grapes.

We are located in the Vecinos del Bosque neighborhood of Albuquerque, just 2 miles from historic Old Town. Our Address is:

Award-winning wines

For award-winning winemaker Sean Sheehan, this winery represents the realization of a life-long dream.  At Sheehan Winery, our focus is on high-quality, handmade, limited release wines that not only delight the palate, but also help our community.  Thanks to our partnership with St. Anthony’s Alliance, a portion of the proceeds from each bottle sold goes to support healthcare and economic development projects here in our community, as well as throughout the world. Our wines have consistently been ranked among the best in New Mexico.

In 2017, Sheehan Winery submitted 18 wines to the New Mexico State Wine Competition and won 18 medals (14 of the 18 Gold or Silver). We were also awarded the Premier Award for our Chambourcin making it the best wine in New Mexico for 2017.

In 2018 we did even better…submitting 31 wines and winning 31 medals!

Our Techniques

Sheehan Winery wines utilize a mixture of traditional and modern techniques to make wines of incredible depth and complexity. We pick the grapes at their optimal physiological ripeness and de-stem directly into temperature controlled stainless steel tanks.  We are careful to treat each small batch with the upmost care to ensure that it expresses its true New Mexico terroir.  After primary fermentation we transfer our young wines to French Oak barrels to age and soften. Depending on the varietal, our wines will age from one to two years in the oak barrels. The aging wine is blended for balance and flavor.
